Will Your iPhone on Verizon?

According to UBS Investment Research analyst Maynard Um, Apple might be close to announcing a partnership with Verizon Wireless. He suggests people could see a data-centric Apple device being offered through the wireless provider. So, will iPhone on Verizon instead of AT&T?

Will Apple partner with Verizon Wireless to deliver Verizon on iPhone?

TechCrunch's MG Siegler reckons that Apple can dictate terms to Verizon Wireless with iPhone and simply appear. Siegler writes:
Apple no longer needs AT&T. Thanks to its huge success, it can dictate its own terms to other carriers now, and ensure it controls the iPhone ecosystem — its top priority. Verizon, as the nation's largest carrier, is likely to give it the most resistance. But that resistance is futile. The iPhone will eventually be on Verizon, on Apple's terms. It's just a question of when.

And the San Francisco Chronicle also has listed the top five reasons that it is time a Verizon for iPhone.
The top reason is that it would boost iPhone sales. For a good number of people the iPhone is appealing, but AT&T is a deal breaker. Providing a second provider would capture these customers.

The second reason is MMS; AT&T is certainly the hold back here. With the newest iPhone Converter software, AT&T is now the weak link when it comes to the lack MMS on the iPhone. Surely Verizon, needing to provide features to entice customers, would offer Multimedia Messaging Services.

The third reason is tethering. The iPhone can tether but the evil empire of AT&T has killed the feature on its network.
Dropped calls are reason number four and the biggest issue for users with the iPhone on AT&T. While Verizon customers don't seem to suffer nearly as badly from dropped calls.

The last reason is voice mail delays. There are lots of iPhone users who have had a voice mail show up hours or even days after the voice mail was left.

Apple's sweetheart deal with AT&T has been over two years, and maybe it's time for Apple to give the public the option of a choice of wireless providers - Verizon with iPhone.
